LA GRANJA DE SAN ILDEFONSO

In the north slope of the mountain of Guadarrama already in the county of Segovia meet with the Real Place of the Farm of San Ildefonso, example of the Baroque created by Italian architects at the service of Borbon dynasty; built starting from 1719 for order of Felipe V, to imitation of Versalles, where the gardens occupy an outstanding place, being these one of the best examples that today is conserved of the gardens of the s. XVIII.

Favorite residence of the first Borbones, located in a place where the hunt and the fishing were abundant, this formed by the Real Palace, the Colegiata (small cathedral where Felipe V'S remains and Isabel of Farnesio rest), the House of the Canons, besides the gardens before mentioned and a group of monumental sources of great beauty.

Declared Historical-artistic group from 1982, Carlos III who completed the works was and who traced the population's planes that he was formed around, buildings that we can admire are also the House of Occupations, the House of Infants and the Real one Manufactures of Glasses of the Farm, an interesting sample of the architecture industrial European of the s. XVIII, built in 1734 today it is the headquarters of the Foundation National Center of the Glass and bill with a Museum of the Glass whose visit is forced.

Fonts of the Real Place: They don't work in winter. All the fonts work at 17:30 o'clock the days 30 of May, July 25 and August 25. Some sources work at 17:30 o'clock on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Museum of the Glass: closed Monday 10 - 13:30 and 15 - 17 h. Festival 10 - 14 h
