AVILA

Beside the river Adaja in the county of Ávila, we meet with the city of the same name whose origin preroman goes back at times, it has been humanity's patrimony declaresd by UNESCO, the more emblematic monuments that it possesses is:

- The Walls: with their 2.526 m of longitude they are the longest in Spain that are still conserved in foot. This walled enclosure has 9 doors and 86 semicircular turrets, it was built almost entirely during the s. XIII, but some on its behalves are previous.

La Muralla de Avila

- The Cathedral: it is the oldest in Spanish Gothic built as temple-strength, their head is included in the walls being part of the defensive group.

La Puerta de San Vicente

It has a great number of churches of different architectural styles, among the most outstanding this:

- San Vicente's Church: it is the more important Avila's monumental group, located outside, their construction begins in the romanic and it doesn't conclude up to two centuries but it already takes in the Gothic.

- Santa Teresa's Church: Baroque style, it was built on the native house of Santa Teresa of Jesus one of the historical but excellent characters of the city.

It also has several monasteries, being the most outstanding the Monastery of the Incarnation where I enter Santa Teresa of Jesus in 1535.
